A genuine agency does not charge you for anything.
Well I have worked as a pro still photographer and as a motion picture photographer for over 20 years.
I can assure you that a true agency will not sell you photos and comp cards. That is stuff you get on your own working with a professional photographer and a printing house for your comp cards.
A real agency will take a percentage of what you make on the jobs it gets you about 30% of what is billed on your job. Never should you shell out money up front to a so called agency. Lots of
Photography studios pretend to be an agency and drop big names but truly have no contact with anyone on the inside.
This scam has been around since about the 50s and is still going on. Always a new scam artiest putting a new twist on the same old game.
Thats normal to charge some kind of fee? People in business just dont do it for free? I sent them a deposit and they are coming here this week to do my pictures. You only give them half the deposit up front then the other half when you meet for the shoot. They are not rude or scamming people, I talk and text to them all the time I have a direct number to call them personally? Stop with all the slamming people when you dont know crap!
No agency is going to pay for your portfolio or comp cards. Plus they give you full copy rights to the pictures. Are you people crazy!! I would love to have had that opportunity when I started modeling. Why would any agency pay for your portfolio when they don't even know you would work. And these people pay for your comp cards! If you are so stupid not to jump on that you don't have much hope in life. Contact other agencies and see what they pay for.
No there a scam!! they will over talk you and bring up big names and say there on tour blah blah blah its 300 for a photo shoot and to western union money witch is another sign of a scam paypal is the safest way to send money. KIMBERLY is the lady who called me don't trust any agency that asks you to kick out money
so you don't know how this works do you? they wil lrequire you to have professional pictures done. then, more, and more, until yo ufinally run out of money
I called their number to inquire more information about them since I haven't heard anything about them. They said they require a head shot and full body shot for consideration. Ok..normal. But they send it out to someone else, so they are sort of like a middle man? It's the other person that makes the final decision. If I am "marketable" and accepted, they will travel up to my location (they are in South Carolina) and do a photo shoot to put together my portfolio. The contract is not exclusive, so I am not limited to just them for finding work. They do not require any fees for signing, they will make my comp. card for free. However, they do charge $300 for the portfolio, and I have rights to the pictures, I can do whatever I want with them. Their reason being is they would hire in models, set them up with everything, and then they wouldn't work so they would be losing money. He also told me their cut is 20%. I'm not sure if that's high or normal for an agency. Here is their website:
