Is the customer always right?

give me your opinions on this.

Not in this life time!! But....more often than not you must satisfy the guest/customer reguardless of who's right or wrong...

Case in point...I was managing a resturant that had a special going on..."If the Feature of the Day is not offered Your Entire Party Eats Free". A party of 4 complained that the server "Did Not" make offer.

I questioned the server in private ( She was with the company 10+ years) and she assured me the first words out of her mouth at the table were offering the feature. I then spoke with the guests and did not complete my first sentence before being interrupted by one of the guests saying "The Customer Is Always Right" and was interrupted "Several More Times" during our discussion with the same statement. I did finally get my point across to them that because there could have been a "Misunderstanding" that the feature was offered, I would compromise and buy each guest the beverages they had and buy them each the dessert of their choice.

All I wanted was the menu price for their entrees. That made their total bill $32.00.

They refused my offer and requested "Police Assistance". Of course I complied.... When the officer arrived I explained the situation in full and because they refused my offer I, as Manager, Demand Payment In Full for the entire meal...which made the total $38.22.

The officer went to the guests and gave them a choice...."Either Pay The Bill "OR' Explain To A Judge Why I Wrote You A Citation For "Defrauding An Inn Keeper" by refusing to pay your bill.

It turned out....The Guests Did Not Have Enough Money To Cover The Bill and were trying to get a free meal with a lie.

They had $22 and change between them counting the pennies in the bottoms of the womens purses. I took what they had and instructed the officer to notify them that they would be arrested for trespassing if they entered my store again...which he did.

They complained to the owner of the restaurant, who gave them all vouchers for free meals and "Wrote Me A Letter Of Warning" for "Not Satisfying The Guests"...Needless to say, I resigned....

I WAS RIGHT AND TOOK THE HIT FOR IT...lol

So, there you have it..."Is the customer always right?" Good Question.

of course not. but the custmer is still the customer even if wrong or mistaken.

No, but means you have to kiss a** to think this way

Never are they right. They are all swindlers and cheats.

hell no. but you have to act like they are.
