When I ask you to show your face it is for a reason. Been there, done that, seen scams, seen everything, have the Feds call me, no problem. You would not sign the deal with him - you would sign the deal with the investor
Get a lawyer and do not do anything. Tell this Carlos Diez that your lawyer will be in touch with him and all communication regarding the deal will only go though your lawyer. You would be crazy to start talking to any investor without a lawyer to begin with. Never make any deals or get into any discussions without a lawyer present

Let me tell you all a little something about Mr. Carlos Diez....
Unfortunately, when the World Economy fell off the cliff in 2008, I was thrust into the World of Seeking Investment for one of my companies that l had launched in 2007. As a matter of fact, we're still seeking funding today, some 4 years later, but that's a whole other story....
The reason I bring that up is because over the past 4 years, I have run into many scammers, many Mini-Madoffs and many fraudulent investment brokers and the like. So much so, that frankly it boggles my mind that there are so many people out there that would go to the such extreme lengths misrepresenting themselves and their abilities just to rip off hopeful entrepreneurs.
When I first met Diez, a couple of years ago, he had introduced us to what he believed to be a legitimate investment source and was acting in the capacity of "brokering the deal". In that deal, pursuant to all the proper documents/meetings, etc...we had to pay an upfront fee to get things moving, as I'm sure you have found out is rather common in the Investment Community, from both legitimate, as well as illegitimate Investment Groups.
LONG STORY SHORT: The source was a Fraud, Diez didn't know it and was caught in the middle, left holding the bag and was hung out to dry. At that point, our firm, spurred on by our Board of Directors and our Legal Counsel, began a full investigation and began preparing full legal recourse against all parties involved, including Diez.
Now, from what I've learned firsthand in dealing with many self-proclaimed "investment brokers", this is the point where the "broker who was in on the scam" would definitely disappear on you.
BUT I CAN SAY THIS ABOUT CARLOS DIEZ: Not only did he NOT disappear, but he stuck in there, took all the backlash against his personal reputation and most importantly, DIEZ HONORED HIS AGREEEMENT AND WORKED VERY HARD TO GET OUR MONEY BACK.
In my opinion, that alone speaks to his Integrity and his Character.
If he wants to meet you face-to-face in his office, you consider yourself fortunate that he is making himself completely transparent to you and that you have an opportunity to make a connection to a REAL Professional and not just another faceless Internet-Based Scam Artist looking to make a quick buck off your back.
Keep in mind, that I do not work for Diez, I do not owe him anything and I have nothing to gain by endorsing him. These are just the facts of my experience with him.
He said he had someone to invest in my company...He wanted me to fly out to Miami...to sign the deal just with his company...not the investor...I talked to the investor...seemed like a joke...BUT
