You should realize this is not how it works. The place does not exist. Craigslist warns not to do business long distance. Look at the newspaper classified rental ads, or go to a property mgmt company for a place. Or drive around the area you like and look for rental signs and call the owner.

Scam and you know it.

The guy does not own the place. Just a picture he is using.

Never rent anything without doing a full walk through first.

Make sure appliances work, doors lock, flush toilets, run showers, etc.

Of course its a scam.

Tell you what, I'll rent you the same apartment for only $400 if you wire me the money.

Really? You even need to ask? Tell you what -- send ME the $500, and I'll send you an education on how to recognize scams.

So i'm looking for an apartment and I found one, but the only problem is I can;t see it before I get it, because the guy is in africa lol. SO hes telling me that he will send me a pair of keys to it as soon as I wire him 500 dollar security deposit he said he will send it once he gets the money. Lol I'm pretty sure this is a scam. I mean he lived there so he would have a friend that would be able to show it to me or the super lol!!
