Is this job a scam?

Not a scam, but a very, very difficult job. Any door-to-door sales job is. And then with Kirby--it's a good vacuum cleaner, but horribly overpriced. Nothing unprofessional about Kirby. It's just an old style of selling and you don't need to sell many to do very well. They hire so many people because most don't last very long; there's a high rejection factor.

See http://www.tv.com/shows/i-love-lucy/sale...

There's a hilarious episode of "I Love Lucy" from 1953 (61 years ago) dealing with door-to-door vacuum cleaner salesmen. Not much has changed since then.

Hope that helps.

The vacuum cleaners are very expensive and, as such, very tough to sell.

Do you have a contract stating you are going to make $1800/month base salary guaranteed? Or did they say you CAN make $1800/month. You get paid about $15 if you can schedule an appointment in someone's home, even if you don't sell it. But how many hundreds of people are you going to have to cold call or how many doorbells are you going to have to ring before someone invites you into their home for a demonstration?

Let's say there are 20 work days in a month, so $1800/20 = $90/day. Technically if you can schedule 6 appointments every day then you could make $1800/month without selling anything. Do you really think that 6 people every day are going to allow you into their home for a demonstration?

It's just like cosmetics like Avon and nutremetics they get rich you don't get enough I worked for peolpe like that and then left about 5 moths later as I did not get ahead.

I would say it's close enough to being a scam or should I say sham,

door to door is a hard too but it really depends on your prinsables and weather you are making enough to want to do it just do what you thinks best for you.

come to my door selling me a seriously overpriced vaccum and I will shoot you down

and,, then bury you.

if they paid you for not selling that company would be out of business,, that part is 100% lie. call it a scam company,,

mcdonalds is hiring,,, try there
