You NEVER pay for a government grant - they never charge you for any reason
You are NEVER called about a government grant. You have to apply through Grants.gov and you track the status of your application through the website, and if successful you will receive a US Treasury check in the mail in an official brown US government envelope
If you need a government grant, then you have to follow the application process on grants.gov
his is indeed a scam. I am not sure how they got my number but I started receiving calls from them about receive 10-6 thousand dollars. After calling a second number per the instructions of the person from the first call, I was then directed to put $200 on a greendot card so that i would be registered through the usa federal reserves and then i would received a confirmation number to go to western union to pick up my money. I thought it was scam so I asked for his website which made the guy angry and you could tell he was irrated that I would not be giving them any money. I then informed the guy that I believed this was a scam because the government doesn't ask for money to give money when it comes to grants and and to please take my number off the calling list. As i was hanging up i could here him still talking telling me it is not a scam and that I have to be the stupidest person to pass up this opportunity.
Both Kittysue and Wayne Z are correct....even though I am late at responding. I received a call myself yesterday about this supposed grant money. It's all a scam. The Federal Pell Grant that students receive from the FAFSA is from the US Department of Education and they would not call you to let you know about giving or wiring you free grant money (my financial aid adviser informed me about this). And if it was free money grant money the government would never ask you to pay them a fee since they are giving you the money.

There is no grant and the fee is the scam.
I got a phone call saying I qualify for a grant and had to call this number in Washington DC but they want a fee. Usually I would think this is a scam, but I'm not sure this time. Has anyone done this before?
