Looking for a name for my new company?

Hi,

coming up with a business name can be a frustrating task. You begin by throwing ideas out on a peice of paper and then your mind wanders and you question yourself.

Remember that you can always change the name as the business evolves - what I mean is you can have the main Pty Ltd company and register another business name when ever you like utilising the main Pty Ltd details - like a parent child relationship - check with your local business registration body the finer details. I currently do this myself.

the next piece you describe is the various sub niches e.g. event planning, equipment hire etc.

Think of these as separate businesses because you should have an exit strategy for each sub niche should you wish to sell at a later date.

When it comes to business names/domain names here is what my team do:

We research our competitors and understand

* why are they in business?

* what they offer and are they successful in what they offer?

* How have they built their business - is it successful

* What if - what if we were to model their success (not copy but model their success)

The next step is to setup a brainstorming session fo all your ideas.

If your stuck after this session then another great way is to run a competition with your local school and offer a reward to the best name (e.g. free dining for 2 when your restaurant opens) - this will also give you the opportunity for local media exposure as the school will want to be included and may have the contacts at the local paper.

Hope this helps

Stock&Barrel Ltd., (could be customised by division, for coffee it could be Cup, Stock&Barrel, or Staff, Stock&Barrel for recruitment.

RedChef (no real reason for the red, just sounded good)

CHEVIS hospitality services

what about stev & chri junction or Food junction or Tummy Full.

Why not Stevis?

I'm going into partnership with a colleague and looking for a name for our new Ltd company, we will be specialising in the UK Pub & Restaurant industry but aim to expand into event planning, equipment hire, coffee shops, Sandwich Shops, staff agency etc so need a generic name to cover the lot... I'm Steve and my business partner is called Chris, he's a chef by trade, quite small and i'm a general complex manager and quite a stocky bloke... any ideas will be much appreciated? Thanks
