One less expensive way is to form connections and alliances with related professionals, and try to leverage their activities and marketing. For example, Tax Preparers in your area may be willing to refer clients or at least add you to a list of Accounting Pro's that they hand out to clients. Real Estate, Mortgage, and Law Professionals are also be a networking opportunity as they typically encounter folks that would need the services of a good accountant.
Find events that others are conducting and see if you can become a guest speaker/panelist at those events. If you see someone holding a Mortgage Workshop for example, you might be able to offer tips on how to structure an LLC to show enough income to secure financing, that type of thing.
Passing out flyers to local small business at strip malls, etc is relatively cheap (you could even do this yourself). Flyer distribution may not be very targeted but it is cheaper and does get your NAME out there which is a big part of game.
Join every club/organization you can - Small Business Associations, Credit Unions, Church Groups, Co-Ops, and when you do get clients treat them like GOLD, and ask them for referrals. (Network, Network, Network)

Business cards are really great way to market your business specially in offline world. However for online marketing I would suggest banner marketing would be the best step for you. You must design some interactive and attractive banners and get them displayed on other sites like local listings, classifieds etc. They will really boost your traffic a lot.
