I can understand your feeling. Okay, here are a few suggestions. First of all, even if you can get an iPhone, how will you be able to afford the cost of a data plan? I have an iPhone thru AT&T and it costs about $100/month. So being able to afford and iPhone is only part of the issue. If you can afford the data and voice/texts cost with a cell company, then one option is to buy a decent older iPhone on eBay. You can get and iPhone 3GS for about $80.00 or so. If that is too much, then consider getting a free or very cheap phone with whatever service and then get a new or used iPod touch for Xmas. She found one on special offer on Amazon; she had ￡40 saved up already, but because it was a special offer, the price of ￡107 was not going to be available for long, so we lent her the rest & she is paying that back out of her pocket money; she has ￡48 still to go.
The argument 'I really want one now' is all too typical of the modern generation, but real life isn't like that - that's how people get into debts they can't afford! If you haven't got the money NOW, you can't have the goods now; you will have to do what I had to do when I was a child: save up!

Try doing small stuff. Like yard work, recycling, garage sale, car wash or you can clean up your neighbors' pets mess. If this does not work, I assure you that not having an iPhone will not make your life worse, in fact it will help you.
