You probably can't compete with the ebay prices of Chinese made phone accessories, at least you would be on more even playing ground competing with the some 435,000 sellers on Etsy, where reselling imports is not supposed to be allowed. Etsy seems like a better match for starters, you certainly can use both, paying for Etsy search ads might help you test the market more quickly, if you have no sales after 200 visits you may be able to more quickly make critical judgements about your prospects.
Spend some time doing searches like a customer to see competitor products and prices...
Ebay is a great way to start the fees are a pain but its a cost of advertising. I would market your items that they are hand customized maybe a brief description of how or what you used to make them special.
I use poshmark! it's free to upload and they only keep 20% of what you make so if you sell an item for 20, you keep 16 and the buyer always pays for shipping. Unlike going to platos closet and getting like 5 dollars!
Hey! :)
I am looking forward to starting my own business and I am very unsure if I should use ebay or etsy. This will be my very first time selling something online. All of my items will be DIY-ed by the way(either studded, dip-dyed, tied-dyed, or have flatbeads added to them).
I will be selling
-iphone cases
-earphones
-clothing(sweaters/jumpers, shirts, high wasted shorts)
-bags(messenger bags, backpacks, and pencil bags)
I was thinking of making an ebay and an etsy and sell the iphone cases and earphones on ebay and sell my clothing and bags on etsy.
Ebay has a bigger audience but a lot of people complain about the fees, are they that bad? I also hear that etsy seems to only be a "seller buys from seller" site and that it takes a longer time to sell an item but the fees aren't as cray cray as ebay.
I need some opinions here.
Thank you. :) xo
