Some joke that meta tags are valuable aids for your competitors to learn about your keyword research.
As search spidering becomes faster, employing techniques like latent semantic indexing they can recognize the subject of a page by content aside from keywords, this is a further methods to combat keyword stuffing.
Commonly a webmaster will dedicate a page to a chosen keyword, with an article focused on that subject, including the keyword in the meta title, header, body text and perhaps an image alt text and file name.
A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, the “keywords” meta tag was a critical element for early search engines. Much like the dinosaurs, this tag is a fossil from ancient search engine times.
The only search engine that looks at the keywords anymore is Microsoft's Bing – and they use it to help detect spam. To avoid hurting your site, your best option is to never add this tag.
Or, if that's too radical for you to stomach, at least make sure you haven't stuffed 300 keywords in the hopes of higher search rankings. It won't work. Sorry.
If you already have keyword meta tags on your website, but they aren't spammy, there's no reason to spend the next week hurriedly taking them out. It's OK to leave them for now – just take them out as you're able, to reduce page weight and load times.
You really can't rely on your website alone to rank anymore. To many businesses keyword stuffed & started dominating the front pages of search engines. There is really only 2 ways to insure you are on the first page for multiple keywords now - Adwords & hiring a Marketing company.
Marketing companies specialize in creating external links to your website, those links count as a popularity contest & have keywords attached to them. The more external links that go to your website the more favored your website is in Search Engines eyes. Quality external links are very hard to come by, but the best SEO companies know how to do it.
Good Luck!
Yeah meta keyword tag is irrelevant now a days. Many top search engines including Google and Bing doesn't support it at all.Instead of meta keyword tag meta description tag plays important role.Try to put your keywords on meta description tag, meta title, header etc.For improving keyword ranking you should focus on 3 things.Content, anchor text, incoming links.Use 4-5% keyword density,Use your keywords in your content at first and last paragraph is good idea.Always use keywords in the incoming anchor text links,Every article or piece of content should include the keywords in outgoing anchor text links,There should also be related keywords around the anchor text links,Incoming website links must be related or similar with our website theme or subject matter and the incoming links must come from different websites and IP’s.Also try to use higher PageRank incoming links.
My keywords in my metatags don't seem to work, I have tried looking for them but only the main title of the website is in all search engines. I wish to get keywords for lot more traffic. Can anyone advise me what to do.
