Tips when communicating with clients via telephone?

Another useful tactic is to stand up when making the call rather than sitting down. Seems to work!

Don't press the mute button and make fun of them because eventually you will forget to press the mute button

Think what you are going to say before making the call to avoid er and ums. Most importantly, this sounds silly, SMILE. You may be on the phone but the smile shows in the voice. One customer told me that she always hoped that I would answer the phone because I smiled at her.

If you drink any caffeinated beverages, try to drink them after you make your phone calls. Caffeine can really magnify anxiety, when people are under stress. Usually there are not problems with caffeine magnifying anxiety when we are not under stress. In addition, it could help if you ask the clients questions about themselves, etc., that way it takes the pressure off of you, in other words, they basically talk, and you respond. Once the conversation gets going, it gets easier. I think the hardest part is initially calling.
