If you want lots of retweets then you better be sharing awesome content. From my time in Twitter people who get lots of retweets are people who are famous or people who are highly active and engaging on Twitter. For starters try retweeting few others content and they just might start retweeting your content.
I have seen many people try many things and also I have seen people following thousands of people on twitter and have thousands of people following them but how many would actually be interested in what they are tweeting, not many.
