I have a friend who makes and sells her own unique accessories - such as cute earrings, interesting wooden brooches and (my main suggestion) really cute hair bows!
The bows are not only easy to make, but the material to buy them is relatively cheap and you can make a bit of profit for that. For earrings or necklaces, etc., I would suggest buying cheap pendants/chains/earring hooks on ebay, and make your own to sell from those, and making profit from it.
Also, if you wanted, you could start selling things on etsy.com, like clothes that are nice, but that you don't want anymore (or anything for that matter).
You could invest in a small greeting card making business, like sell packs of 5 for a set amount, and make nice, home-made designs, for different occasions - birthdays, congratulations, get better, plain (blank), etc.
It is also a good idea to charge for shipping, so you don't need to spend more than your income from this.

Most people who try to make money on the internet fail, don't invest your rent money on inventory. You can't beat selling what is already selling well, I believe you can find top seller lists on Ebay and Amazon that should give you some clues. Finding suppliers with low costs that allow you to profit is a big part, cost is where the big volume sellers have an edge.
Some guides suggest buying everyday household items from local stores that are on sale with coupons to bring the cost down so you can resell at below list price and still make a profit.
Do you have any special skills? It's important to be original. Sell something like ceramic bowls with unique designs or try to sell something that you believe the consumers would find useful, but they just don't know it yet.
You sell "very high quality rock candy" when in reality you sell meth. Cops will never know because if you charge 80 to the gram you can just say its so gourmet you have to pay that much.
