There are also revenue sharing article sites like Hobpages.com are another possibility, they give you 60% of the revenue generating clicks. It's easier to put up the occasional longer form article on such sites.
its not the sites but the bloggers you will be a 'slave' to - you need to suck up to them, be a Yes Man, etc. to the ones who are already established in the publishing industry; eventually you'll start getting leftovers and handmedowns from the more popular blogging sites and your name recognition improves. at some point you'll 'ghost blog' and do all of that blogger's work under that blogger's name and then you'll know you've made it big time.
I use wordpress. But the way to become a known blogger is to make the blog about something people really care about and use the key word option so people will stumble across you by accident on google.
Blogger, Wordpress, Tumblr, weebly
Just start writing. Being known comes from writing quality content that's engaging to given audiences. You can't just become famous - you have to earn it.

I'm extremely interested in a writing career, any form really, but am unsure where to start. Are there any specific blogging sites that give you more chances of becoming a known blogger or somewhere to get some sort of recognition? Any info helps :) Thanks!
