Many people now use ad blockers for a reason - we dont like adverts.
Websites need to have a high customer base to really make a profit from ads on there website, also every click is a customer LEAVING your website.
If your website is not a business, then google adwords is customisable, but the same principles apply.
To tell the truth, not many people will bother to click on the ads on your blog or website so the safest way is to stick with pay per view. If you have pop-ups or pop-unders, that's better as visitors to your site will have to view them anywayz even though it may be irritating to them.
