Great question...my sister in law is a chocolatier here in Canada and she faces the same issue as well. I did make a website for her, but she has no time and expertise in monitoring all that. Not sure how your technical skills are!
Incidentally, I found these guys: www.chocolatestown.com the other day, and they seem to be doing exactly what you need! It's an upcoming site, and they are wanting to become the largest online retailer of chocolates and apparently are focusing on unique/handmade/artisan type.
My sister-in-law signed up as a chocolatier and I guess they'll let her know when they are ready to go. I'm not sure when they will launch, but boy they sure seem to be getting a lot of traction, especially on twitter.
Hope that helps!
Don't be too proud to use ebay and Amazon, they are your only chance of selling your totally unknown chocolates online. You don't have a brand name so it is unlikely anyone will buy your chocolates even if you sold them at half price. Don't forget you are competing with worldwide brands like Cadburys, Lindt, Terry's, Lindor etc. Why on earth would anyone want to buy your unknown brand which was probably made in your kitchen at your home whilst the dog and cat were prancing about in an excited state of heat, shedding their hair and other unmentionables everywhere?
Amazon won't sell your brand unless it is in their stock catalogue (and if it's new, it won't be).
Ebay sells high end brands too - have a look. It is much less of an auction site and much more 'buy it now' so that people just use it as a marketplace.
Otherwise set up your own website and focus on promoting that.
What's the shelf life? Cause you could talk to grocery stores and try to get a sample display setup like Costco in the USA to boost sales maybe?
I have noobish business experience. I'm winging an idea I have as it is. Not sure if it'll die or take off.
Open a chocolate selling website.
Own website
Hi guys,
Brand new in the Yahoo community and I'm looking for help...I’m a chocolatier who is just starting off his business here in UK, and am looking for online venues where I can sell my chocolates. Does anyone know of any major sites where I can sell chocolates online? I know there is ebay and amazon, but I just can't stand the fact that they are known for ‘bargains’ unlike the somewhat luxurious high end chocolates brand I am trying to establish. Any ideas guys?
Cheers!
