WordPress is the Best

I don't know which blog host has the strongest community of ready made traffic, Google's Blogger is by far the biggest blog host with some 1.6 Billion pages worldwide (.com version only) but you blog is for the most part an isolated self contained site.

Web 2.o sites like Facebook are more power than blogs for getting you viewers, even single article hosts like Hubpages has more cross promotion than most blog platforms.

Getting the most views comes down to how you promote yourself and your "search engine optimization" (SEO). In my experience, the best platform for blogging with SEO capabilities (that means helping you get your blog found in search engines like Google and ranking well) is Wordpress. There is a short tutorial at the link below that will help you get started in 3 simple steps and it has a list of resources to help get you started.

Once you get your blog up and running, you will use things like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and even local flyers to tell people about your site. :)

My wife has a wordpress.com blog that she loves working on. She finds it very easy to use and just make content rather than bother with formatting and coding. If you are highly technically inclined you might find wordpress.com limits you too much but for non-technical people it is great because they handle all the technical stuff for you.
