Amazon, much safer. They have the A-Z garauntee as well. Ebay sucks.
Amazon sells new stuff directly, and they also have new and used stuff from other sellers that sell through Amazon - most of those sellers are real companies, but some are just random people.
But *nothing* is sold from eBay directly; new or used it's all sold from other sellers, and most of them are random people; fewer are companies compared to Amazon.
What this all means is that if you're buying something new, Amazon is a better choice, especially if it's something sold directly by Amazon (it'll say if it is when you are viewing the item).
But if you're buying something used, it's probably about the same either way, since in both cases you're mostly dealing with random people as the sellers.
Both Amazon and eBay have guarantees that protect buyers, but on eBay it can be harder to return stuff you don't like.
Amazon is more trust worthy because if you buy something from a seller off of amazon, they have to take it back. But how ever ebay sellers work how ever they want to work. The eBay sellers are a little more tricky, so you need to keep a close eye on that stuff. I recently bought a anime from eBay which its usually a 200$ box set but it was for $20 which I thought holy! I need to buy that while its cheap. I got it and it turns out it was a bootleg. How ever if this happened to you on amazon and you got a bootleg you can get your money back, and send it back to the original seller.
They are both very safe to use. Ebay has had lots and lots of problems with paypal so never use that instead of the safest way to pay it is the worst. Last Christmas I ordered something for my son from Amazon and it was supposed to be delivered within 3 days it wasn't. On the third day I called them and they sent a second one to me. The fourth day or the next day the first package arrived and one day later the second package arrived so I called Amazon and they told me just to keep it. It had a $35 value. So I usually use Amazon.

They are both pretty reliable, just check seller ratings and compare prices on both sites.
