Adword keywords is the best way to do it. It can show what searches are being clicked every month and how much a month.
Here's a trick; when you go to Google.com, type in anything you want, right? And then put quotation marks in front and back of the keyword. Something like this: "people fight all day" (Just as I used the quotation marks; with them actually!) and then you will see the EXACT Competition you are competing with. So if you just type: people fight all day, searches may come up like 15,000,000. If you type in: "people fight all day" then it may come up as 54,000. (People fight all days isn't like that, but this is an example) And that will be the exact competition you are competing with.
After you have done that: Always put quotation marks in front and back of your keyword to see exact competition. Here's the key, when you do that, find Google searches that are 54,000 to 200,000. If you go up any higher; you will NOT rank on the first page; it will be impossible. If you try to rank for let's say: Make money online, then you will never do it, EVER! Too many people are ranking for that, and I know there are millions of people doing it. Don't become one of those people.
Ok, you got that. Now when you find "EXACT" Competition, go to Adword Keywords in Google and look up your keyword. Find out how many people search it a month and if it is high, good for you! Look at the competition, if it is low; good for you! If the keyword competition is high or searches aren't enough to live up to your standards; then look for a keyword SIMILAR to your previous keyword.
Also, if you are making a blog, YouTube video, or anything similar, make sure you put your keyword in the TITLE, DESCRIPTION, and TAGS (Most important; well all it is important, but this is vital)
In your TAGS; make sure you also put keywords that are similar to your main keyword. Don't put your keyword too much in your description because Google will pick it up as duplication; or too much. And you will not rank for Google that way. Put enough in it, but not too much. And that is my help; hopefully it can help you out! Good luck! *Two thumbs up!*
