Why are items from hong kong on eBay so cheap?

Some of them have a starting price of 1p and free shipping?

They've got loads of good reviews.

How are they making anything?

1. The sort of items you are looking at are literally 10 a penny to make

2. Postage is dirt cheap

3. Your e-mail address is a valuable commodity...

The reason they have such a low starting price is to reduce the listing fee. If you list an item at £10 starting price, ebay will charge you more just to set up the sale. The product will obviously sell for more than 1p.

Also i think the £ is worth 12.1x more than the Hong Kong $ . So £0.01 would be $0.12. I could be wrong. Anyhow, with free shipping it will usually take like 1-2 months for it to arrive.

I was looking at some batteries on ebay from china and they were selling for like 20p. However it showed that they sold like 4500 of them. Thats like £900 or $10890. The batteries probably only cost them 2p to make.

Either

1) You're looking at the starting bid price for an item, which will undoubtedly rise to hundreds of dollars.Or

2) The product you're looking at isn't electronic. Everything except electronics in China are cheap to manufacture and doesn't cost a lot.

they don't, they sell some 1p items because you cant complain, it ll cost them less then 1p per item, they ship them over in containers etc, and basically they ll do it for positive feedback not for money

it's not good quality

just like how you get cheap toys made in china , they use cheap materials
