beats me why people who receive cold calls answer them
By all means pick up the phone if you want, but once you have found out who it is then just put the phone down and go back to what you were doing
If youve got the time then just keep them talking (make them think you are interested, but DONT give out any details (even your real name name - make up a ficticious name if you want)
One thing they really hate is wasting their time (cos if they aint talking to you they could be talking to somebody else and maybe making a sale)
If you are in the UK there are rules about how they can operate and you can report them to OFCOMM. You can also opt in to the Telephone Preference Service and get them stopped - only temporarily though you have to keep applying
All you can do is try to block them but they rotate numbers so even that doesn't work. I keep an airhorn handy by the phone and blast their eardrums out. I also do not answer calls if I don't recognize the number, than god for caller ID.
Organizations pursue behaviors that our successful.. Like spam, the tactic did not work with you but it works enough to duplicate the action.
Over the past few weeks, I have gotten the rudest cold callers I've ever experienced. I've gotten to the point where I don't even let them finish their spiel- I just hang up. The nice ones I listen to and calmly explain why their product isn't applicable to me. They take me off the list, and life goes on. Yet lately I get these rude people that yell at me and will not listen when I tell them I'm really not in need of whatever service they offer. Even worse, they keep calling back! Multiple companies, always rude cold callers. Why the rudeness? Can I report them? How do I get them to stop calling?
